Miami Acoustic Guitar Lessons | How to play Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

Hi, I offer Miami acoustic guitar lessons and my name is Dyce Kimura. Today I’m covering the topic of Thinking out Loud by Ed Sheeran on acoustic guitar finger style; just like he does it. Before I get into the actual tutorial of the finger style, I’m going to play it for you [playing guitar], but I’m going to do it with Ed. So I’m going to play it for about a minute with Ed Sheeran with the recording and then I’m going to explain everything to you in terms of the parts and also the specific techniques. If […] Read more

Skype Guitar Lessons: Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away" Guitar Lesson

For our next lesson we are going to cover the song “Fly Away” by Lenny Kravitz. We’re advancing past the basic concepts we covered earlier and we’re moving into the realm of four chords per song.  The rhythm is more complex and exciting as well so get ready to dig in!

The chords are:  | A C | G D | Each chord is played 5 times each in a fast rhythm.  We will play the A chord as a barre chord which means you will lay your entire finger down on strings 4-3-2-1 (and slightly mute the 1st string by […] Read more

Pink Floyd's "Time" Guitar Lesson

This is a lesson on Pink Floyd’s “Time”. It is definitely one of David Gilmore’s finest masterpieces. While taking the time to learn this song, I must say I was blown away by Gilmore’s soaring melodic structures and his ability to convey subtle inflections in his soloing. I was equally amazed by the sheer power of the solo and the fact that he played it without playing fast. This shows true mastery in my opinion. Playing fast instantly gains the performer the “wow” factor, but few guitarist can play slowly and deliberately while still maintaining a captive performance level. Also, […] Read more

How to Play Back in Black on Guitar

This video is how to play “Back in Black” by AC/DC. Their guitarist, Angus Young, plays the song electric which I also do at the start of the lesson. But then I quickly switch over to the acoustic to teach you the song because it has more clarity and hopefully without the distortion you can hear the complex rhythms better.

This song is definitely mid-advanced level. It sounds easy at first but the rhythms are rather complex. I must confess that when I first trying to learn the song I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it […] Read more
